Dream of Red Mansions Songs
A Dream of Red Mansions is the pinnacle of ancient Chinese novel creation both in terms of literary art and in terms of ideology and culture. After its publishing, the book aroused great social repercussions and has become a rare cultural phenomenon in the literary history of the world. Cao Xueqin, author of A Dream of Red Mansions, was born between the reigns of Qing Emperors Kangxi and Yongzheng, and grew up in the official residence of the Jiangning Imperial Silk Manufacturing Bureau in Nanjing. The political turmoil, the rise and fall of the family, and the Jinling customs all prepared Cao Xueqin for the creation of the novel when he was in the prime of his life. Cao Xueqin is not only the pride of Chinese culture, but also the pride of human civilization. Having reproduced and interpreted some classical passages of the book, the exhibition serves not only to commemorate the great writer, but also to convey contemporary Chinese people’s determination to carry forward the book’s literary heritage, improve the self-confidence and innovation capability of the culture of the Chinese nation, and promote the development of Chinese culture.
