“Lady Wei” Bronze Li, the Spring and Autumn Period

This li is made of bronze. There is a pair of them with the same shape and structure. The li has a wide open mouth with everted rim that is flat and wide, a contracted neck, a slightly swelling belly, a flat crotch, and three hoof-shaped feet. Between the raised ridges on its belly are the decorative animal-mask motifs. The li is exquisitely made with clear Van lines and primitive motifs. Inscriptions engraved on rims of this pair of lis endow them with great ornamental and research values.
