Made of light greenish white jade, this cup acquired a beige color from being buried underground for a long period of time. The ochre spots on its body add a charm of antiquity to it. The cup has an open mouth that slightly contracts below the mouth rim, a deep and slightly bulging belly, and a small ring foot. The cup body is finely cut and polished to ensure an even thickness. The surface and the interior of the cup look smooth and shiny. A chi is carved on each side of the cup to serve as the handle. The chi has a relatively flat head, a single horn, cirruscloud-shaped ears, protruding round eyes, and a wedge-shaped nose. With its forepaws clutching the cup rim and its mouth biting the cup mouth, the chi shrinks its neck and arches up its body, as if it is going to take a drink from the cup. Placed where the back of the chi joins its hip is a long lock of mane that curls towards the side of its body. The chi catches the lower part of the belly of the cup with its hind paws, and its slender, curling tail coils on the exterior wall of the cup.
