This embroidered robe, with a front piece that buttons on the right, has a round collar, horse hoof-shaped sleeves, and slits opened on the right and left. Polychrome clouds and gold dragons are embroidered on the bright yellow “zhuanghua” satin. The robe is woven using the “zhuanghua” technique. Gold dragons are embroidered on the robe: one “zheng” dragon (with the head of a dragon facing front) each on the chest, back, and the two shoulders, two “xing” dragons (with the head of a dragon facing sideways) each on the lower hem both in front and at back, one “zheng” dragon on the under fly, one “xing” dragon each on the edges of the sleeves, and two “zheng” dragons, three “xing” dragons on the collar. The lower hem is decorated with the cliff and seawater pattern in between designs of eight auspicious symbols, the Chinese character “shou” (longevity), and bats. The robe boasts exquisite weaving skills and clear jacquard designs.
